Bengaluru: Forgery, cheating case registered against Rajinikanth’s wife

Bengaluru, Jun 15: In a major development, which may have inter-state political implications between the people of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, especially Kannada and Tamil speaking people, Bengaluru Police have registered a cheating and forgery case against Tamil matinee idol Rajinikanth’s wife.

The police registered the case against Latha Rajinikanth, wife of the Tamil movie superstar on Monday.

The FIR was registered on June 9 following directions from the jurisdictional Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s court, hearing a case filed by a private firm, Ad Bureau.

The firm, which was entrusted with the post-production of the Tamil megastar’s latest movie, ‘Kochadaiiyaan’, had alleged that after they financed for completion of the film, Latha Rajinikanth sold the distribution rights of the film to another firm for Tamil Nadu area while the private firm was promised a distribution rights in return for their funding.

The private firm had approached the ACMM court against Latha Rajinikanth as she stood as the guarantor for the funding.

Konchadiiyaan, the multi-crore big budget film, starring Rajinikanth and Deepika Padukone was directed by Soundarya R Ashwin and has music by A R Rahman. While the narration in the Tamil movie was done by A R Rahman, the narration for the Hindi version was done by Amitabh Bachchan. Aadhi and Jackie Shroff performed as supporting actors.

Konchadaiiyaan or the king with a long curly mane, is a 3D motion picture of computer adult animated historical fiction cum action picture written by K S Ravikumar.

The film features the characters, whose designs were based on the appearance and likeness of their respective actors.

The failure of the film Konchadiiyaan at the box office was the main reason for the entire controversy as the investment in the film could not be recovered.
