Bhagya schemes making people lazy: H D Kumaraswamy

Bengaluru, Jun 16 (DHNS): JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy on Monday extended his support to a section of writers who suggested that creating jobs is more important than implementing Bhagya schemes and urged the State government not to take it lightly.

Speaking to reporters, he said a section of writers has recently said the government should provide job opportunities to the poor in order to ensure that they lead a dignified life. Implementation of Bhagya schemes like Anna Bhagya (free rice scheme for BPL families) will only make people lazy, he added.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has been consulting writers and intellectuals on running the administration. The government should take the advise given by the writers seriously. “The chief minister has been harping on the Anna Bhagya scheme. He has been projecting as if people were dying of hunger and that he saved their lives by implementing the scheme,” he said.Recently, writer S L Byrappa had commented that the ‘Bhagya’ schemes are leaving people lazy.

Kumaraswamy severely criticised Siddaramaiah and charged him with being irresponsible and casual. Cricket betting is a big racket going on in the State for some time. Betting money involved in every IPL match is to the tune of Rs 4,000 crore to Rs 5,000 crore. A whopping Rs 80,000 crore was involved in betting for the IPL semi-final match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings recently. But the government has been acting as if it is clueless, he charged.

He said the government has not acted on IPS officer Sonia Narang’s recent letter to Karnataka Lokayukta Y Bhaskar Rao complaining about corruption in anti-corruption watchdog. People will gradually lose their confidence in the Lokayukta institution if steps are not taken to cleanse the system, he added.

The JD(S) leader sought to know why the government has not been able to trace Rs 550 crore of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department unauthorisedly deposited in various banks and take action against the guilty officials.

This Kumaraswamy is a useless fellow. He is jealous of Siddramayya. Siddramayya became chief minister coz of peoples mandate. But Kumaraswamy was chief minister through back doo. Th Appa makkala paksha JDS can not digest the fact that Siddramayya is chief Minister. Always create some controversy by useless statements. This "Ibbaru hendina Muddina Ganda" can never become chief Minister again. He should not.

By providing bhagya schemes some ma become lazy. But it is very useful in case of many people who are not able to work. Providing milk to children is also a very good scheme. Negative thinking should be left by HDK. He could not provide such schemes.

Yes 100% I agree with HDK at least in this respect.
Yes, Bhagya's can be given to orphan children, destitute sick, crippled who can't work, who are truly deserving.
But Everyone capable of working has a right to demand work and fair pay as per raising prices.
Govt and all policy makers should apply mindfulness in all schemes that they are introducing.
Govt shouldn't spoil work force who is required to build the nation.

India is a welfare state not a military one. We can't allow people to suffer untill they are able to earn. When a person earns enough, he will stop himself from availing Bhagya schemes.

Every one in our state are not super rich like HDK.

Jossey, what do you think? All these bhagyas are the best available options for the development of a country?
You people are addicted to it.
CongrASS from the early days of independence was throwing peanuts at minorities and converting them into vote banks. Now you people have become so addicted to it that anything against free goodies from the govt. is nonsense for you.

Come out of this kind of living without dignity. Boldly tell the governments,
" We are educated now. If you still want to do cast based vote bank politics do it in primary education system. Let higher education be based on merit. Even we do not want reservations on job sector. we are capable of competing with our efficiency and expertise".

Will you do that? Never! Now you want SC ST benefits extended to converted 'Dalit Christians' too!
