Bhubaneswar, Jun 16 (IANS): A woman has been arrested here for killing her husband with a pestle after he came home drunk and quarrelled with her, police said on Tuesday.
Mamata Das, 32, hit her husband Haribandhu, 42, at their home in Mancheswar railway colony in the city on Monday. Haribandhu was working as a technician in the railway department. The couple has a son.
Haribandhu was an alcoholic who would frequently beat his wife.
On Monday, he came home in an inebriated state and quarrelled with his wife when she protested. Both had a heated argument. In a sudden outburst of rage, Mamata Das hit her husband's head repeatedly with a pestle used to crush and grind spices, killing him on the spot, police said.
