Mangaluru: Karnataka coast gets good rain

Mangaluru, Jun 16: Almost the entire coastal belt of the state drenched in copious rain during the morning session on Monday June 15. Thereafter, it was mostly cloudy sky or bright sunshine everywhere. The rains resumed on Monday night again.

The city, Bantwal, Beltangady, Puttur,Kundapur, Karkala, and Udupi taluks got heavy rain. Karwar registered eight cm rainfall. At the same time, sea erosion worsened near Kasargod and other places, where protective walls collapsed and coconut trees got uprooted.

The meteorological department has predicted rain in most places in the coast, several places in southern hinterland, and some in northern hinterland during the next 24 hours. It has warned the fishermen to be careful, as wind can blow at a velocity of 45 to 55 km per hour from northwest direction towards the west.
