Mangaluru: Eight injured in collision of cars at Pavanje

Mangaluru, Jun 17: After two cars coming from opposite directions collided with each other at Pavanje near Haleangady on Tuesday June 16 morning, eight persons including drivers were injured.

A car that was moving towards Udupi was hit by another car that was going towards Mangaluru. Glen Tauro from Bantakal, who was going to Shankarapura in the taluk from Mangalore airport, three persons seated in his car, as well as four persons travelling in the other car including Krishnapura Issac Ahmed, Muhammed Ashraf and Mujambil, were injured.

Traffic on highway was disrupted for a long period on account of this accident. Suratkal traffic police rushed to the spot and took steps for easing the traffic. Case against the drivers of both the vehicles was registered in Suratkal traffic station thereafter.

Because of ongoing road works, highway has been narrowed down to two-lane road at this stretch. Often, drivers of vehicles get confused, locals said.
