One killed as truck rams train in Uttar Pradesh


Lucknow, June 18 (IANS): One person was killed and two others were injured seriously on Thursday when a speeding truck rammed into the Avadh-Assam Express train in Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh, police said.

The accident at an unmanned crossing led to the derailment of the train's engine. The truck was completely damaged in the collision.

Truck driver Raj Kishore, a resident of Masauli in Barabanki, was killed on the spot while the train driver sustained serious injuries. A person travelling on the truck was also injured.

The Avadh-Assam Express was approaching Bindaura railway station on way to Lucknow when the accident occurred, police said.

The truck driver's body has been sent for post-mortem, an official told IANS.
