Army soldiers in Mathura to celebrate Yoga day


Mathura, June 18 (IANS): The army personnel of Strike Crops 1 will join Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Yoga mission on the occasion of the first International Yoga Day on June 21, an official said here on Thursday.

"Keeping with the mission of prime minister to celebrate the first "World Yoga Day" in a grand manner on June 21, Strike 1 Corps is organising special Yoga camp at helipad ground and OD complex located at Mathura Cantt, to spread awareness about Yoga and its benefits," the official said.

The day will be observed by the Strike Corps 1 at different military camps in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Punjab as well.

Yoga classes will be conducted and the event will be attended by all ranks and their families.

An estimated 15,000 people are expected to turn up on June 21 for the programme.

"Yoga is an invaluable gift of ancient Indian tradition. Maximum army troops will be participating in the International Yoga Day and appropriate preparations for the same are underway," the official said.
