BJP protest hits traffic in Agra

Agra, June 18 (IANS): Hundreds of BJP activists on Thursday protested over the poor law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh, paralysing traffic movement in the Taj city.

Led by union Minister of State for Human Resource Development Ram Shankar Katheria, the BJP activists were joined by hundreds of tempo drivers who have been on strike against the government order to ban over 10-year-old diesel vehicles from July 7 to reduce pollution.

The protest paralysed traffic movement in the city for many hours, especially on the main M.G. Road.

The BJP activists shouted slogans against the state government like "Sapa sarkar hosh mein aao, choodi pahan kar naach dikhao" (Samajwadi Party government, come to your senses...).

BJP leaders later presented a memorandum to the district authorities.
