Mangaluru: New office bearers of United Friends take charge

Mangaluru, Jun 19: United Friends Bejai (R), a charity oriented association's installation of new office bearers for the year 2015 was held recently at St Sebastian church mini hall in  Bendur in city. United Friends is on its silver jubilee year.

Chief guest on the occassion was Fr Sunil Praveen Pinto, assistant parish priest of St Rita Church, Cascia. Mahabala Maarla the ex mayor, Ronald Gomes an entrepreneur were the guests of honour.

Arun Rodrigues who was the secretary for the year 2014 has been elected as the president. Roshan Monteiro has been elected as the secretary. Denzil Rego has been elected as treasurer. C J Lobo has been chosen as silver jubilee chairman.

Previous committee members Rajesh D'Souza, Arun Rodrigues and Olwin Pinto handed over their respective charges to the newly appointed members.

Ronald Gomes conducted the installation of new office bearers. The new committee members then joined the former members on the dias.

SSLC rank holder Cidny Demorah and PUC rank holder Rakshitha were honoured on this occasion.

United Friends Bejai has always given more importance to providing educational and medical assistance to the needy. On this occasion also educational and medicalassistance were given to the needy to the deserving. The list of beneficiaries includes Snehalaya Charitable Trust Pavoor, St Francis Xavier higher primary school teachers, Medical Aid for treatment for Precilla Veigas's daughter Wilma Priya Veigas, Fr Hubert Pinto, Education for school children in Kenya, Vidhyajyothi higher primary School, Jyothi Nagar, Kavoor, St Francis Xavier higher primary school Moodperar.

Mementos were presented to the guests on the occasion.

Former president Rajesh D'Souza Welcomed and Roshan Monteiro proposed vote of thanks. Sheldon Crasta compeered the ceremony.

Cultural programme was held at the end.
