Moodbidri: One killed, four injured, in wall crash

Moodbidri, Jun 19: A woman, identified as Shantabai (50), died after a wall of an under-construction hostel building of a college at Mijar near here came crashing on her on Thursday June 18 afternoon. Four others were injured in this incident.

Shantabai was the wife of Siddappa from Kalakotagi in Vijayapura district. One of the injured, Mahantamma, was shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru considering the seriousness of her condition. Other labourers, Basamma (40), Bharamappa, and supervisor, Bagal, were injured. These three persons, who also belong to Vijayapura district, are being treated at Alva's Hospital Moodbidri.

It is said that some labourers engaged for building construction were clearing sand below, when the wall collapsed, and its bricks fell on those working below.

Moodbidri police have registered case against site supervisors, Irfan, and Bagal, and building contractor for negligence in building construction.
