Udupi, Jun 19: District Youth Congress members staged a protest against external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj on Thursday June 18, near Clock Tower, Udupi, and sought her resignation.

Congress leader Amrith Shenoy alleged that Swaraj misused her power by helping scam-tainted Lalith Modi. “Now, she should review herself as she has taken an oath. The central government did not write a single letter to the British government seeking Lalit Modi’s release.”

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised to free India of corruption. The BJP has to withdraw power from Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje. Lalit Modi was caught up in various scams during his one year tenure and the BJP government helped bring back a corrupt person. Nearly 17 percent of capital investment in the share market is from foreign sources. The innocent people were taken in by the BJP’s colourful promises, but we will not keep silent,” added Shenoy.

He said, “Ironically, Swaraj always used to meet Janardhan Reddy and Sriramulu as her brothers. But now, she has stopped all contact with them. Did she forget all those things? The ISIS waved the Pakistani flag in Kashmir, but the central government has taken no action against them. Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was a good economist and he worked for the betterment of this country by introducing a new global economic policy in the year 1990.”

Members of the youth Congress demanded resignation of both Sushma Swaraj and Lalit Modi.

State nominated CMC member Janardhan Bhandharkar said, “Swaraj also personally supported Vasundhara Raje and provided finance for her son. BJP has corporate world personalities on its either side. Why has the centre given 10,000 acre of land to Bangladesh? What is the reason behind providing free passes to 2 lac Bangladeshi citizens? IPL betting is growing as a mafia across the country.”

“‘Patriosm’ has lost its real meaning,” said Bhandarka referring to the actions of Swaraj and Lalit Modi. Youth Congress members Azeez, Sunil Bangera, Vikas Shetty, Stevan Colaco, Vishwas Amin, Melwin D’Souza, and Kiran Kumar were also present.
