Extend e-rickshaw registration date: Delhi urges Centre

New Delhi, June 19 (IANS): The Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government on Friday urged the Centre to extend the registration date of e-rickshaws in the national capital till December 31, 2015.

The registration was stopped after May 2015.

In a meeting with union Minister for Road Transport, Highways & Shipping Nitin Gadkari, Delhi Transport Minister Gopal Rai requested him to give the right of retro-fitment to multiple firms rather than to only one, so they could issue registration.

Rai also urged Gadkari to speed up the work on East-West Corridor which will not only decongest traffic in Delhi but will also help lessen the pollution level in the city.
