Contractors go on strike - power supply disrupted in region

Daijiworld Media Network - Moodbidri (SP)

Moodbidri, Jun 20: As electricity contractors from the region have gone on strike in protest against the new system brought in force by the government relating to granting of electricity contracts, power disruption has been the order of the day here.

The contractors have been agitating since the last three days, demanding to revert to the earlier system of granting of contracts on piecemeal basis instead of the proposed bulk contract. The contractors have been refusing to attend to power supply problems created by hostile climate. This has placed additional burden on Mangalore Electricity Supply Company officers and labourers in setting right the problem.
