Puttur, Jun 20: Joju Joseph (27), who belongs to Urejalu House in Ichilampady near Uppinangady in the taluk, had left home on January 11 this year. At that time, he had informed his family that he would be working at Bengaluru as a coolie.

Thereafter, Joju Joseph used to contact his family members back home regularly till March 13 this year, it is gathered. His last call was on March 13, and thereafter whenever the family members tried to call his phone number, it remained switched off. Joju, who had studied up to SSLC, was desirous of working hard to help his family.

Joju Joseph had told his family that he was working for MNC Motor Bike Company at Aroli, Kanakapura Road, Bengaluru. When Joju's father, T V Joseph, went there seeking to meet his elusive son, the company officials said that no such person had ever worked there till now. The family then concluded that Joju would have joined somewhere else. As they failed to get any information or hint about his whereabouts for over three months since then, they filed a complaint in Uppinangady police station.

The police personnel have expressed the opinion that chances of Joju leaving for a foreign destination are remote as he is not in possession of passport. A missing case stands registered in Uppinangady staion, and rural police circle inspector, Anil Kulkarni, is guiding the investigation.

If the youth was working somewhere outside the state, the family says there was no reason for him to lie to them. Some suspect that he would have disappeared after getting involved with illegal activities. He has never visited any of his relatives after he went away from home.

The police have requested people having information if any about Joju Joseph to convey the same to Uppinangady police station.
