Bhatkal: 15- year-old boy dies in accident at Shirali

Bhatkal, Jun 21: A 15-year-old boy died as a Bolero pick-up hit him while he was crossing the road on his bicycle on national highway 66 at Shirali.

The accident took place on Sunday, June 21 morning.











The deceased has been identified as Nagraj Dottamma Naik (15) from Shardoli in Shirali. He was studying in 10th standard at Shrivali School in Shirali.

Nagraj was coming back to his house after a hair cut at a shop. The Bolero was on its way to Honnavar.

The driver of the pick-up escaped from the accident spot and later surrendered at the police station.

Hundreds of people gathered at the accident spot. Highway traffic was interrupted due to the accident for more than an hour.

Bhatkal circle police inspector Prashant S Nayak along with police personnel rushed to the spot.

Body which was totally damaged as the impact of the accident was taken to Bhatkal government hospital for post-mortem.

A case has been registered at Bhatkal rural police station.
