Civilian killed in Kashmir gunfight


Srinagar, Jun 22 (IANS): A civilian was killed and another injured overnight in Redwani Bala village of south Kashmir's Kulgam district during a raging gunfight between holed up militants and security forces, police said.

A senior police official told IANS here that a civilian identified as Arif Rashid Wani was killed by a "stray bullet" and another identified as Bilal Ahmad was injured in Redwani Bala village where a fierce gunbattle is on.

Reports from the village said dozens of locals had marched to Redwani Bala village after news of the gunfight spread in the adjoining villages.

Also, protestors had resorted to heavy stone pelting at the security forces.
