Dharmasthala temple kitchen to feature in National Geographic channel

Beltangady, Jun 22: 'Annapoorna Kitchen' of Lord Manjunatheshwara temple at Dharmasthala in the district will be one among five large-sized kitchens which will be featured in a television programme to be aired in National Geographic television channel.

The channel has begun to air 'India's Mega Kitchens' programme, which aims at providing introduction and exhaustive insight into kitchens, each of which satiate hunger of thousands of people. The programme will try to introduce to the people how these mega kitchens are maintained, operated, how cooking is done, what technologies are in use, and such other aspects. Host of the programme, Vikas Khanna, is a 'Michelin' starred Indian chef, restaurateur, cookbook writer, and popular host of MasterChef India.

This show will be telecast beginning Monday, and will be aired at 10 pm on Mondays and Thursdays. Five biggest kitchens of India, Shirdi, Chennai Taj That's Kitchen, Dharmasthala, main kitchen of Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation at Noida, and Akshaya Patra Foundation's kitchen at Hubli will be featured in this programme.

The kitchens to be shown in the programme will be right from those which prepare lunch for for 1.7 lac school children, to the Taj kitchen which caters to 16 international and three indigenous flight operators, it is gathered.

    I haven't eaten at any of the ed kitchen,however how could golden temple,Amritsar not amongst them?I have read and seen on ngs and discovery TV channels and I am planning a trip very soon to savour their food!

    only channels left in india with superior level of directors and tremendous entertainment.. nat geo discovery history tv and travel.. i like nat geo most.. other channels are busy in making money by showing long advertisings..

    Even though i am christian, i have eaten at Lord Manjunatheshwara temple at Dharmasthala and the food served there is hygenic, efficient, nutritious and wholesome. It tastes good too. I have always wondered the operations behind it and will be looking forward to see this program.
