China blocks India's move seeking action against Pak on Lakhvi

United Nations, Jun 23 (PTI): China has blocked India's move in the UN demanding action against Pakistan over release of Mumbai attack mastermind and LeT commander Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi in violation of a resolution of the world body as it contended that India provided insufficient information.

As the UN Sanctions Committee met here at India's request, a clarification was to be sought from Pakistan over Lakhvi's release in the 26/11 trial but the Chinese representatives blocked the move on grounds that India did not provide sufficient information, official sources said.

In a letter to the current Chair of the UN Sanctions Committee Jim McLay, India's Permanent Representative to the UN Asoke Mukherjee last month had said Lakhvi's release by a Pakistani court was in violation of the 1267 UN resolution dealing with designated entities and individuals.

The sanctions measures apply to designated individuals and entities associated with terror groups including al-Qaeda and LeT, wherever located. The sanctions' committee has five permanent and 10 non-permanent UN member states in it.

The release of Lakhvi had also raised concerns in the US, UK, Russia, France and Germany with Washington calling for him to be re-arrested. Lakhvi and six others – Abdul Wajid, Mazhar Iqbal, Hamad Amin Sadiq, Shahid Jameel Riaz, Jamil Ahmed and Younis Anjum – have been charged with planning and executing the Mumbai attack in November, 2008 that left 166 people dead.

Lakhvi, 55, a close relative of LeT founder and Jamaat-Ud Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed, was arrested in December 2008 and was indicted along with the six others on November 25, 2009 in connection with the 26/11 attack case. The trial has been underway since 2009.

A Pakistani court had on April 9 set free Lakhvi, a development which India said "eroded" the value of assurances repeatedly conveyed to it by Pakistan on cross-border terrorism.

Guys.. Don't think that Modi is dumb especially in Foreign policy.. There will always be a strategy in his visits..

Yes. India and China are having a cold war. Both are playing strategy games to control each other... Entire world knows it very well..

That is the reason Chinese president Visited India as soon Modi was PM. Even Modi also visited China. Both Leaders are playing smart games..

India recently joined Vietnam in their South China sea project... which China did not like. So China took their score in Lakhvi case...

Lots of people commented on India's relations with Pak & China. Every citizen understands these two Nations attitude with India but our PM is yet to learn some lessons. Either he has no guts to face them or trying to create something called (friendship) with the back stabbers. In my opinion even USA may have second thought about India's strategy. They try to build stronger India only to face worse China and not out of love.

They have not learned lesson from Taliban. China being a communist country just live for the welfare of their country and their people. They dont care others they dont fear God.

Even though China was keeping a top secret of the slowing down of her economy for the last four years, now that is an open chapter in front of the world.

China knows very well the sermon on the mountain of Mr. Modi to take over China's leading role as the biggest manufacturing base of the world, and to shift that to India. Does that strategy help China? Already, China has overtaken India in the export volume to the UAE, and signed contract with the GCC countries a bilateral agreement of oil and commodity exchange in between the GCC countries and China. Thus China is playing a very hidden strategy to undermine India's dream of making India as the manufacturing base of the world.

The Western world was alarmed by the economic growth and domineering character of China so the western countries, especially the U.S. was leaning towards India to check the unprecedented empirical domineering spirit of China to take over Asia and the world.

Now, that blind trust in India was shaken due to many factors mainly due to her vague and backward shifting towards theocracy and an autocratic route.

Now, China is showing her real color. In 1956, Pundit Nehru and the Chines leaders waved flags in New Delhi telling " Indo-Chino Bhai Bhai", but when India got the mega dose of backstabbing in 1961, that deeply wounded Pundit Nehru and he couldn't survive from that shock ever.

Probably, as the proponents of yoga said that "yoga" can heal the sickness and bring world peace and stop warfare, let us wait for another miracle through the new contribution of India to the whole world called "yoga".

deep down, china likes india and even respects it.but it is angry that india is playing to the usa and its allies tunes which were once its enemies and soviet was its friend.if india wants to only do business with west and aligns its strategic interests with asian block that is with russia and china, china will not even give a iota of trouble to india .the ball is in indias court to know this subtle truth.better india understands it sooner, better for it bcoz our future will be bright and safe if we ally with russia(military power more or less equal to usa) and china(future lone economic superpower replacing usa) than with usa and eu which does only sweet words to thier allies and when the time comes to support its allies it strictly backs off.lolz

    geoffery,

first we should see the root of the problem so that we can have solution for this matter.
first we have to analyse our own mistakes and why china hates us?

1:when china occupied tibet, tibet was an unclaimed territory with head monk dalai lama as its head and with no military.in my opinion india(pm nehru) should not have interfered in this matter when china forcibly occupied tibet and give refuge to dalai lama.this sowed seeds of enemity in china and result was 1962 war .

2:if india had that much guts to give refuge to dalai lama, why it gave in to chinas pressure and accepted that tibet was part of china when china is not ready to accept kashmir as part of india?

3.every one knows tibetans second largest monastery is in tawang, arunachal pradesh which has hundreds of years history.it is surely part of tibet(not china) but if india accepts tibet as part of china, then for which country tawang will belong to?

these are all the blunders made by then govt of india along with the kashmir issue also which till today present generation indians are suffering from.

Pakistan going closer to China, will strain their relations with U.S. It is a matter of arsenal deals and hegemony in the region.

It is a great fun for anybody, especially for Mr. Modi to fly high with his close friends then shaking hands with people of Indian origin who are fairly well to do in the foreign countries.

After some road cleaning public stunt with his close political comrades, and some other such joking events, how many times he has visited the poor villages or slums around New Delhi to get an eye to eye experience of suffering of the helpless people?

Twenty trips so far, and 12 ahead before the end of this year. He is breaking the record in foreign travel wearing the most high fashioned suits. Someway, he is not wearing the caps in the foreign visits but only in India changing every day. Now, the cap changing is getting less and less because new cap fashions can't be found thus burning the tax-payers money.

Mahatma Gandhiji was the man of the year in 1935, his picture was in front of the Time magazine.

He was half-naked while extensively traveling in India but while visiting the royalty and British bureaucracy, he put a shirt with cheap khadhi material.
He was respected by the royalty and bureaucracy not by the pageantry of the suit, but by the strength of his character, noble vision and principles of life.

The Chinese factories in India will put the label behind the products as made in U.S.A., England, Japan etc. They know that the quality of made in China goods are terrible and disposable items. Let Mr. Modi bring all the Chinese factories to India.
