Congress is most communal party of India: BJP

New Delhi, June 23 (IANS): Terming the Congress as the most communal party of the country, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday said that looking at Yoga Day celebrations through the eyes of communalism is only a Congress mindset.

"On Rajpath itself, citizens from 84 countries not only participated in International Yoga Day celebration but also practised yoga there. People of all religious denominations were there. Where is communalism in yoga," asked union minister Prakash Javadekar.

"Congress is the worst communal party and it works on communalism, and therefore, they see communal angle in every action...In fact, the Congress mindset is communal," he added.

The Congress on Monday accused the ruling BJP of playing divisive politics and sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi's apology over his party leader Ram Madhav's tweets about Vice-President Hamid Ansari's absence from Rajpath on Yoga Day.

Reacting over the controversy, former union minister and senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said, "Ram Madhav's comment shows that polarisation was the intention behind Yoga Day."

"Communal polarisation is the only thing Modi knows. The obnoxious comments by Ram Madhav is a deliberate attempt at polarisation," he added.

Taking a jibe at the Congress, Javadekar said the Yoga Day celebrations throghout the world was a moment of pride for India but instead of feeling proud, Congress is feeling desperate and frustrated.
