Sonia, Rahul condole death of Sister Nirmala


New Delhi, June 23 (IANS): Congress president Sonia Gandhi and party vice president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday condoled the death of Mother Teresa's successor Sister Nirmala.

Sister Nirmala, 81, who succeeded Mother Teresa as superior general of the Missionaries of Charity, died in Kolkata on Tuesday.

In a message, Sonia Gandhi described her as a worthy successor of Mother Teresa and said that Sister Nirmala would be deeply missed by the millions whose lives she touched in the service of humanity.

Rahul Gandhi tweeted: "Extremely saddened at the passing away of Sister Nirmala. She carried forward Mother Teresa's work with quiet dedication and dignity."
