Hubballi, June 24: Barely after a day of coming to the rescue of Yeddyurappa relating to the cases filed against him by the state government, Kumaraswamy met Yeddyurappa for half an hour at the visitors’ bungalow here on Tuesday Jun 23.

Both are former chief ministers of state and hold important posts in their respective parties. The rare meeting lasted for half an hour.

Kumaraswamy was in city to oversee the preparations for the padayathra JD (S) is conducting from Dharwad to Belagavi on June 25. He was staying at the visitors’ bungalow. Yeddyurappa who had come to the city to attend a function at Naragunda also came to the same visitors’ bungalow for his stay. It is said that, Yeddyurappa upon knowing Kumaraswamy was also staying in the same bungalow, showed interest to meet him. Kumaraswamy who got to know about this did not wait Yeddyurappa to come to him, but instead went to meet Yeddyurappa.

While they talked initially about the administration during their regimes, later Yeddyurappa thanked Kumaraswamy for supporting him a day before in relation to the cases filed against him by the government. Yedddyurappa’s own followers or party leaders or members had not come in open to support him or defend. Kumaraswamy was the first person who had come as his saviour. Kumaraswamy while defending Yeddyurappa heavily criticized the state government for registering new case against him as there were several case already registered. Kumaraswamy went to the extent of asking the state government to dare to register cases against him.

Later speaking to the journalists Kumaraswamy said that he did not have anything personal against Yeddyurappa and he was willing to go with BJP as opposition party to protest against the government policies.

Kumaraswamy also said “Yeddyurappa has been very much hurt by the state government’s bad motives of registering unnecessary cases against him. I have defended him but it was not with any political motives.”

Yeddyurappa did not say anything about the meeting. It cannot be dismissed as a chance meeting. Changes in state political dimension are expected, analysts say.
