Mangaluru, Jun 25: Unknown thieves, who entered St Joseph's Joyland School at Kolya here on the night of Tuesday June 23, broke open drawers of two tables there, and took away Rs 72,000 in cash, apart from text books, pencils, compass, and other stationery items. The incident came to light when school head teacher, Veena Bhat, came to the school on Wednesday morning.

The thieves had entered the school by breaking open the main gate and lock of the main office door. After they were informed of the incident, police personnel from Ullal station rushed to the spot. Finger print experts also checked the spot of crime. A case was registered in Ullal station.

This theft has happened, following a series of thefts which keep occurring regularly in the region. The police personnel, who take up investigation, have not been able to make much headway or nab the culprits. Perhaps buoyed by this, thieves continue to strike at will, locals say.
