Seven killed in Vietnam typhoon


Hanoi, June 25 (IANS): At least seven people were killed and four remained missing on Thursday in a typhoon in Vietnam.

Typhoon Kujira made landfall in Vietnam on Wednesday afternoon, Xinhua news agency reported.

According to a meteorological agency, rainfall from Wednesday night to Thursday morning hit 219 mm.

Floods after the typhoon have swept away 23 houses.

Heavy downpour in a short period of time has flooded many districts in Son La province.

Kujira is the first typhoon to hit Vietnam this year.
