Eight Indians nabbed in Sri Lanka for smuggling gold


Colombo, June 25 (IANS): Sri Lanka arrested eight Indian Nationals on Thursday for smuggling gold weighing 903 grams, media reported.

The customs department said it arrested nine people, including eight Indian Nationals, at the Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), Xinhua reported.

According to customs department spokesman Leslie Gamini, seven of the eight Indians with gold hidden in their rectums were about to board a flight to Chennai in India.

The customs department said investigations are underway.
