Police seize Rs 1.3 crore cash transported without records

Daijiworld Media Network- Chikkamagaluru (RJP)

Chikkamagaluru Jun 26: Mudigere police in Chikkamagaluru district intercepted three cars coming from Mangaluru and seized Rs 1.3 core cash which was being transported without any proper records on Thursday, June 25.

As per details, the police had a credible tip off that money was being transported from Mangaluru to Mallandur. So they laid a trap at Sabbenahalli near Mudigere. Sub inspector Gaviraj, ASI Somegowda, police personnel Umesh Vijayakumar, Ravindra and home guard Krishna intercepted three cars. Upon checking the cars, they found that two cars had a total cash of Rs 1.3 crore without records.

One car had Rs 80 lac and another had Rs 53 lac. Income tax officer R Narayana Aiyar said that from the initial investigation it was found that the money was unaccounted and no tax was paid on it. He said further investigations are on.

The police had to bring currency counting machine from SBM bank in Mudigere to count the cash. As per some sources, the third car managed to give a slip to the police. No arrests could be confirmed.

It is not yet known whom the money belonged to. Police said a case would be registered after thorough investigations.

its really amazing on the police part to give a clear statement about how the tip off was carried out, and on what basis the raid was conducted even after counter attack and coming to know it's illegal money that to cash... But according to the countries constitution you put it as law and order where this matter will go to court and the court will decide how the money came in and who brought it in... Shame on you governance dept.. You say achchhe din and promise India will be a corrupt free country.. Aur kiitnna khoon piyounge, poor people of India ever since independence have always been dependent on our politicians thinking always on their promises,,

    alex . Mangaluru

When BJP is supporting corruption as against their LS election chest beating roars (like those big apes), it is the Government and the party's bhakts who press disagrees here as they have to support their choice.
At least they can change their thinking and ask the BJP\Govt. not to abet corruption\impropriety as is being done\seen presently in the news.
They are actually trying to fool the public by dilly dallying with various unrelated and made up news to buy time, so that people will forget of their wrong doings.
These "Disagree" Bakhts will never try to understand what is real and what is fake as they are immersed\made to believe in fake ways by the leaders they believe in.

    This is a tamasha.
Some of the land/flat dealings go for multicrores, even in Mangalore. Count the lowest rate of 25% of that in cash money, it is nearly a crore.
If they do carry out these checks in Bombay, they could very well get 1000 crores in a day.

    Kusuma,
It is easy to say arrest them without knowing the facts.
It is pepper season for planters and most of the deals are in cash. This being a cash crop coming under Agricultur does not attract income tax.
The records statements are kept in the estate and can be called for, Just like R.C and insurence certificates of cars.
Hope that answers your question !

    @ ANP,

    Ayub,
All 3 cars were. Checked, if anything was found they should have reported.
There is no evidence third car involved, a slip after checking ?
police have not made such a statement. It is only presumed by some.
If so police can detain and ascertain from them number and details.
