Three hunters arrested, carcasses of wild animals seized

Sullia, Jun 26: The forest department officials arrested three persons found to be poaching inside the forest and seized from their possession carcasses of two wild animals, on the night of Wednesday June 24. They were hunting animals near Jalsoor.

The arrested persons are Suresh and Purushotham from Peraje, and Rideesh from Arantodu. Another accused succeeded in giving the policemen a slip.

Apart from a jeep and gun used for hunting, carcasses of a wild cat and civet cat, which had been kept inside the jeep, were seized. On being produced in the court here, the accused were remanded to 15 days judicial custody.

The raid, undertaken under the guidance of Puttur assistant conservator of forests, B N Harish, was executed by range forest officer, P Sridhar, deputy range forest officers, Venkappa Naik and Shivanand Acharya, and forest guards.
