PM to lay foundation stone of IARI-Jharkhand on Sunday

Ranchi, June 26 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of an Indian Agriculture Research Institute (IRAI) at Jharkhand's Hazaibagh district on June 28, an official release said on Friday.

The IARI-Jharkhand would achieve inclusive agricultural growth through Integrated Farming Systems (IFS) in the region, the release said.

The institute will attract the cream of post-graduate and doctoral students from all over India and abroad to conduct region specific research. The major regional challenges will be addressed by the IARI-Jharkhand through prioritised thrust areas of research, integrated with post-graduate education and extension programs.

IARI-Jharkhand will work on the required areas to deliver improved soil health, water use efficiency (WUE) and management of both surface and ground water resources in the high rainfall regions through multidisciplinary research.

Besides Modi, Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh and Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das will grace the occasion.

The preparation for Modi's visit is in final round. Jharkhand Chief Secretary Rajiv Gauba visited Hazaribagh on Thursday and reviewed the preparation of the programme and security measures.
