Army organises para-sailing camp in Jammu


Jammu, June 26 (IANS): The army on Friday organised a para-sailing adventure camp for the youths of remote areas in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.

"A para-sailing camp was organised by Rashtriya Rifles Battalion at Jhangar under the aegis of Rashtriya Rifles Force based at Reasi Helipad Ground at Lam," defence spokesman Col. S.D. Goswami said in Jammu on Friday.

"The para-sailing camp was yet another of its kind of adventure activities organised by Rashtriya Rifles in the series of other activities where youths of local villages participated," Col. Goswami said.

He also said that the event was conducted by a team of qualified army para-sailers for the youths of remote border areas of Lam and Jhangar with the aim to introduce adventure sports among the younger generation.

A total of 50 youths from Laroka, Lam, Jhangar, Saryah, Lehran and Makri villages took part in the camp.

"During the camp, training on theoretical and practical aspects of para-sailing skills, pre-requisites of a para-sailer and other important aspects related to para-sailing were imparted," Col. Goswami added.

The local residents thanked the army personnel for organising the adventure camp.
