Delhi Police get Certificate of Recognition


New Delhi, June 26 (IANS): The Delhi Police were on Friday conferred with the Certificate of Recognition for the second consequtive year on the occasion of Passport Seva Divas.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj conferred the award on Delhi Police after the national capital was chosen as one of the three best states in India in acknowledgment of the high level of service, commitment and contribution to good governance by way of speedy verification of passport applicants during 2014-2015.

The certificate was received by Special Commissioner of Police (Intelligence) Balaji Srivastava at Jawaharlal Nehru Bhawan here.

"Special Branch of Delhi Police conducts field enquiries in respect of passport applications based on online passport verification software of ministry of external affairs," Deputy Commissioner of police Ram Kumar Verma said.

Verma said that last year also Certificate of Recognition was given to Delhi Police as one of the four best states of India for good governance.
