Belagavi, Jun 27: “Belagavi session was introduced with the intention of helping the north Karnataka region in development. But that is not the case. For the past five sessions, a sum of Rs 49.21 crore has been spent. But it has not helped north Karnataka in any way in the matter of development,” said Bheemappa Gowda a right to information (RTI) act activist from Gokak in Belagavi on Friday June 26.

“Every Bengaluru session costs around Rs 4 crore as they have the necessary infrastructure. But the Belagavi session costs around Rs 10 crore. 5 sessions have taken place in Belagavi of the total duration of 40 days since 2006. The total money spent for these sessions, stands at Rs 49. 21 crore,” Bheemappa added.

“Only the legislators and officials have gained by this, not the general public of the region.” he concluded.
