71 percent voting in MP by-poll


Bhopal, June 27 (IANS): Over 71 percent people participated in the Garoth assembly constituency by-poll which was held peacefully in Madhya Pradesh's Mandsaur district on Saturday, an election official said.

Eight candidates are in the fray in the election for which votes were cast at 263 polling booths from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., the chief electoral official said. Long queues were witnessed since morning.

Around 1,200 election officials and other personnel were deployed to ensure peaceful voting. Besides a large number of security personnel were also stationed there.
