5.6-magnitude earthquake rocks Assam


Guwahati, Jun 28 (PTI): An earthquake of moderate intensity of 5.6 on the Richter Scale rocked Assam, including its capital Guwahati, at 6.35 am today.

The epicentre of the tremor was in Kokrajhar at a depth of 10 km on latitude 26.5 degree north and longitude 90.1 degree east, MET officials said.

The quake rattled doors and windows forcing people to rush out of their houses, police said.

There was no immediate report of any loss of life or damage to property, they said.

    Assam is anyway being destroyed by illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators. They deserve to be treated in the same way Burma treated its illegal immigrants from Bangladesh-the so called Rohingyas.

    Nature has balancing mechanism.
    Earthquakes reminds us the need of conserving nature, ecology etc.
    There is difference between development and reckless development.
    At the same time, sympathizing with victims of earthquake.
    May they get strength to bear the loss of damage to properties.
