Kuwait mosque bomber was Saudi: Officials


Kuwait City, June 28 (IANS): Kuwait's interior ministry on Sunday said the bomber who attacked a Shia mosque in Kuwait City on Friday was a Saudi national.

According to Xinhua news agency, the ministry revealed the name of the suicide bomber as Fahd Suliman Abdul-Muhsen al-Qabaa, adding that he arrived in Kuwait by air on Friday.

Kuwait security forces on Saturday arrested the owner of the car that carried the suicide bomber who blew himself up near the Imam Sadiq mosque in a busy area to the east of Kuwait City.

Friday's attack killed 27 people and left 227 others injured.

The Islamic State (IS) militant group has claimed responsibility for the bombing.
