Bantwal, Jun 29: In a sad incident a person had died due to the effects of lightning on Saturday night at Maindala near Punjalkatte.

Pradeep (18), son of Umesh Madiwala is the person deceased.

There was no electricity on Saturday as it is a common thing during this season in the area. At around 9.30 p m electricity power appeared. Pradeep decided to charge his mobile phone at this time and switched on the mobile charger.

The lightning which struck suddenly made the electricity move in the mobile charger. Pradeep whom was injured in the incident was rushed to the hospital but he had breathed his last on the way.

The mobile charger was seen completely burnt.

Pradeep was the third child of Umesh Madiwala. Due to abject poverty, he could not continue his studies and worked for a shamiyana supplying company in Allipade.

Bantwal tahasildar Purandara Hegde visited the house of the deceased and consoled the family.
