Kerala: UDF wins bypoll - Chandy says, a clear rejection of corruption charges

Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 30 (PTI): Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Tuesday said the Congress led UDF victory in Aruvikkara bypoll was a clear rejection of the various corruption charges levelled against his government and the politics of violence unleashed by opposition CPI(M) led LDF.

The UDF victory in Aruvikkara is seen as a personal triumph of Chandy, who had to bear the brunt of the opposition attack on allegations of Solar scam and bar bribe with demands for his resignation.

Talking to reporters at the assembly media room as the session is on, a beaming Chief Minister said the opposition had failed to cut any ice with the electorate.

"They raised mere allegations. They could not convince the electorate or fight it legally," Chandy said.

"Personally, if there was even one per cent of truth in the allegations, I am of the opinion that I have no right to continue in office," he said rubbishing the charges raised vociferously by LDF in the assembly and during the campaign.

"People of the state are peace loving and will not accept the bomb culture and politics of violence persued by the marxist party," he said.

On the charge by CPI(M) leaders V S Achuthanandan and party state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan that there was free flow of money and liqour at Aruvikkara, he said he was pained to hear that. The marxist party was a poor loser and the statement was an 'insult to the electorate', he said.

Pointing out that scores of home makers had gathered during his family meetings during the campaign, he said they had praised the government's act in closing down liqour bars. In fact, this victory is a vote against liqour, he said.

Attributing the victory to the united efforts of all the coalition partners, he said each of them stood united to fight the bypoll.

The UDF government had worked unitedly during the last four years and none of his cabinet colleagues disagreed with any of the decisions taken.

Chandy, in a word of advise to the marxist party, said they should learn lessons from the defeat and mend their ways.

In the assembly, Chandy was kept updated about the poll trend by the young MLAs. When the victory margin crossed 10,000-- young MLAs P C Vishnunath and Shafi Parambil were seen rushing to the CM's seat sharing the news with him.

The solar scam relates to the cheating of several persons by Saritha S Nair and her accomplice Biju Radhakrishnan, by offering solar solutions using the name of higherups, including that of the CM.

The bar bribe scam relates to charges of bribery against Finance Minister K M Mani for opening closed bars.

two more bypoll election results have been announced today
and both belong to tripura and both were won by left.
what is different in this as left always win in tripura?

for the first time in history of tripura, bjp got second place strikingly close to win both the seats putting congress which
is the prime opposition party in tripura for decades to 3rd place.

Bjp followers shouldnt be surprised by the result and claim bjp is gaining ground....historically tiruvanathapuram is a area where both RSS and bjp has a strong presence in kerala.....because of local leader rajagopal...Even in past few elections they are doing well not speacial of this time...because of modi some people might have shifted their vote base...but after recent scams I dont think bjp would get same results if elections happen now...

..Congress will be wiped out from INDIA..reason is, Congress power hungry attitude..For power, Congress ready to ally with any one anywhere..this leads to seat sharing with regional parties, eventually when regional parties gets stronger they will demand more & more seat..finally Congress will become irrelevant..this happened in UP (SP,BSP, BIHAR(RJD/JDU), WB(LEFT/TMC), TN..After Indira gandhi, Congress never in party building..and there is nothing secularism left in this party..

    4) In MP, last Diggy stepped down 15 years ago...its BJP all the way
    4) IN Gujarat after 1982, its Janata & last 18 years Its BJP
    5) IN Orissa, last 15 years its BJD

Mr. Ramesh: The Kerala population is as follows. 56% Hindus, 24% Muslims and 19% Christians and the rest belongs to other minority religions.

Pundit Nehru said " The missionaries taught us to read but the communists gave us to read". In literacy, Kerala ranks no 1 in the nation with 98%. So, the Hindus of Kerala are educated, and they can't be too easily bluffed through religious rhetoric.

How communism penetrated in Kerala, because the Soviet Land false and total lie publications distributed cheap literatures about the Russian paradise, then the people believed that blindly as truth.

Even with stains of corruption in Kerala, the electorate felt more comfortable through avoiding the north Indian religious based party called the BJP led mainly by Forrest University Graduates.

Wait for the Bihar election result.
Whether Hindu or any other religion, their political affinity will be shaken when they spend more money for items like food and faced with skyrocketing inflation. Yoga will not help at that critical challenge.

See the list of the BJP leaders in different States involved with very high level corruption. Do you think that the electorate of India are ignoring those surprising news emerging every day?

You may put your calculator in front of you and add up the high level corruption charges from east to the west, involving your great party Ministers. After a few months compare the numbers in between Kerala and other States of India where the very honest BJP is in power.

1:today in tamilnadu bypoll results, bjp alliance partner aiadmk won by 1.50 lakh votes.
reason:then same party is in power in that state.

2:in another bypoll results today in madhyapradesh ,bjp won.
reason:the same party is in power in that state.

3:in kerala bypoll results, congi alliance=udf won.
reason:the same party is in power in that state.

in all the 3 bypoll results, difference is only in kerala assembly constituency,
udf vote share has gone down drastically in favour of bjp candidate.
there is no doubt that congress will loose in assam assembly election which will happen in early 2016
and i dont know what will happen in kerala, but surely congress will loose power or there may be hung
in 2016 and the reason for that is bjp will serioulsy cut into the voteshare of both ldf and udf.

BJP moves up from 7213 votes in 2011 Assembly to 14232 in LS polls last year to 34145 in this elections, a staggering four fold increase in vote share

But then, O Rajagopal has canvassed on his popularity too cutting across party lines people have voted for him. It's now that Keralites have understood the importance of BJP & to be part of mainstream politics- Remember Kerala today is without representation in Cabinet
