Mumbai, Jun 30: Munnai Bhai actor Arshad Warsi who is part of the soon to be released movie Guddu Rangeela, starring Amit Sadh, Aditi Rao Hydari and Ronit Roy besides himself, spoke about his movie at a promotional event in the city of Delhi.

The actor said that Guddu Rangeela was not just a bag of comedic scenes but had a serious message at the heart of the story.

He also was happy that other movies with really content too were doing well because of the story they were telling rather than just the star power that they packed in the cast. He said, “It’s sad if good content driven films don’t do well at the box office, and I’m happy when films like ‘Piku’ and ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ do well, the belief in cinema is there.”

Having played a lawyer in Jolly LLB, Arshad seemed to vehemently advocate strong social messages being relayed through comedy for her believed, that would lead to greater impact. Even in Jolly LLB, there was a strong social message of how witnesses and proofs are manipulated outside the courts in order to gain a favourable verdict. Arshad was directed by director Subhash Kapoor, in Jolly LLB as well as in Guddu Rangeela. Subhash Kapoor is a former journalist who has turned to film making and makes movies that are based on real life events or social issues.
Guddu Rangeela is slated for release on the 3rd of July, 2015.
