PM expresses sadness over Indonesia plane crash


New Delhi, June 30 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday expressed sadness over an Indonesian plane crash in which 113 people are feared to have been killed.

"News of the plane crash in Indonesia is deeply unfortunate. My thoughts are with the families of the deceased and prayers with those injured," the prime minister said.

All 113 people on board a Hercules C-130 military cargo aircraft were feared killed when the military plane crashed into a residential area in Medan city on Indonesia's Sumatra island on Tuesday, media reported.

A total of 101 passengers and 12 military crew members -- comprising three pilots, one navigator and eight technicians -- were on board the plane.
