Myanmar puts 10,000-kyat bank notes into circulation

Yangon, July 1 (IANS): The Central Bank of Myanmar on Wednesday put a new type of 10,000-kyat currency notes into circulation in the country.

The new bank notes will not affect the legal tender status of the currently-circulating older 10,000-kyat currency notes, the bank said.

The central bank decided to upgrade the notes to further enhance the note quality and prevent forgery, Xinhua news agency reported.

The 10,000-kyat bank note is the largest-value denomination of currency notes introduced in Myanmar.
