Kamal Haasan keen to watch 'Gour Hari Dastaan...'

Chennai, July 1 (IANS): Actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan wants to watch "Gour Hari Dastaan - The Freedom File", an upcoming biopic of Oriya freedom fighter Gour Haridas, who had to fight the bureaucracy to get recognition.

"When Kamal heard a film being featured around a man whose struggle was worth telling a story he was intrigued to see it. More so, because it is directed by National Award winning filmmaker Ananth Mahadevan, who recently worked with the former in forthcoming Tamil film 'Papanasam'," a source told IANS.

The film features Vinay Pathak as the freedom fighter, while Konkona Sen Sharma plays his wife. The cast also features Ranvir Shorey and Divya Dutta.

"He (Kamal) had seen by earlier biopic 'Mee Sindhutai Sapkal' and loved it. So when he heard about the irony of the last of our freedom fighters being made to run from pillar to post to establish his identity, the historian in him went back to his own lineage where freedom fighters had spent their lives for the nation," Mahadevan said in a statement.

"He immediately expressed desire to watch the film and even offered to upload it at his own home theatre, which he revealed is equipped with a Qube server for projection," he said.

Post the release of "Papanasam" on Friday, Haasan is expected to watch "Gour Hari Dastaan...".
