Media Release

Mangaluru, Jul 6: Monsoons are best enjoyed with a musical ambience around. The 163rd monthly theatre called 'Geeth Sangeeth' presented by the dynamic musical couple Anil and Laveena Praphulla Pais held on July 5 was a perfect treat to the ears adding to the lovely monsoon season.

Anil and Laveena Praphulla Pais released their first Konkani devotional album 'Kristh Amcho Raai' which brought about a revolution in Konkani devotional music, after which they released their sensational bunch of tunes through the album 'Poilo Moag'.

After the album’s popularity and thrilling response, they decided to stage their first live show through Mandd Sobhann’s monthly theatre popularly known as 'Mhoinyalli Maanchi' which has been up for 14 years now!

The show began on time with Konkani music fans showing their presence in huge numbers in the auditorium. We seldom see a fully packed audience even before a show commences. But Geeth Sangeeth stood out in this regard.

The much awaited 'Geeth Sangeeth' was opened with the scintillating title track from the album 'Poilo Moag' sung by the composer himself. Yes, Anil Pais’s rendition of the title track originally sung by Nakul Abhyankar gave a perfect kickstart to the show.

Up next was 'Ye Moja Raja', a new composition presented by Anil’s talented life partner Laveena Praphulla Pais which was a peppy number. She also performed the catchy 'Hai Re Disco' track with the perfect spirit and presentation skills.

Then came the 'voice that speaks love', Prajoth D’sa with his crispy rendition of intense two new compositions 'Ashe Poleynaka Tu' and 'Hanv Kavi Zala Go' which left the audience spell bound. Prajoth yet again justified his title of being a unique voice and the sensational 'Sonu Nigam of Konkani'.

'Roy Joy' a romantic duet from the album performed live by the nightingale Anitha D’souza and Rony Crasta was indeed commendable.

Gurkar Eric Ozario falling in love with a song so much that he wished to sing it himself is definitely not an ordinary scenario. You read it right! 'Thembe Thembe Pavsa' the most beautiful track from the album 'Poilo Moag' written by Wilson Kateel and originally rendered by Prajoth D’sa was performed live by the Maestro Eric Ozario accompanied by the Soad 4 runner-up Smenita. Their performance was well applauded by the audience which uplifted the ambience of the hall in minutes.

Laveena Praphulla’s brother Naveen Ranjith who is a source of support and encouragement to aspiring musicians teamed up with Anitha D’souza to perform the lovely duet number 'Suknyacho Moag'.

The star couple of the evening Anil and Laveena Praphulla took up the stage and performed the foot tapping love number 'Mog Zala Kalzaani'.

Shilpa Cutinho, the 'Best Singer - Female' winner crooned her melodious voice out with the meaningful number 'Athaancho Sounsaar' and a new composition 'Parzol Ghama Thembo' which made perfect sense to the award.

Ashwin D’costa, Soad 4 runner up and an upcoming young singer performed the Rock n Roll number 'Naach Tu Naachonk Ye' and a love duet 'Ashello Dees' with Shilpa Cutinho.

Veteran singer Rony Crasta got the audience rolling with the Bhangra number 'Balle Balle', which proved Konkani music nowhere lacks in innovations and entertainment.

Supporting the singers were a well experienced elite group of musicians lined-up who were amazing with what they are good at. The music lineup had Roshan Angelore on the lead guitar, Jerome Coelho on the bass, Richard Monteiro on the keyboard, Sachin Sequiera on the drums, Sunil Kumar on the violin, Jason Lasrado on the accordion and Anil Pais on the rhythm guitar.

The songs performed are penned by renowned lyricists like Wilson kateel, Lloyd Rego, Melwyn Peris, Laveena Praphulla, Melwyn Antony, Joel Attur, Austine Salins and Vivian D'silva.

Between the musical performances were rib tickling comedy skits by Prashanth, Johnson and Austin teamed up as 'Kuwait Friends'.

'Nach Sobhann' presented well choreographed dances which were performed to perfection by the troupe.

The entire show was well compered by  talented host Annu Bantwal, Abu Dhabi who kept the audience interacting and involved throughout the event.

The show concluded with words of gratitude from Anil Pais thanking all his supporters and fans especially Mandd Sobhann for giving him a platform to present his songs live.
