Udupi: Metro Guys hold diocese level cricket tourney at Brahmavar

Udupi, Jul 7: Metro Guys, Brahmavar organized Udupi diocese-level one day cricket tournament at Nirmala High School ground, Brahmavar here on Sunday July 5.

The tournament was inaugurated by Fr Johnson Dmello, assistant parish priest of Holy family church by lighting the lamp.

Chief guests Ravi Prakash Gonsalves, member Chanthar gram panchayat and vice president of parish Pastoral council, Janet D’souza, member of Varambally gram panchayat and others were present. 

A total 16 teams participated enthusiastically on the day including a one guest team. In the semi final, Shirva team defeated the St Francis Xavier Church Udyavar and SMS team won against Brahmavar cricket team. 

Shirva cricket team won the tournament and SMS cricket team secured the runners up prize. The organizers awarded the winning teams with cricket trophy along with cash prize. 

The man of the match was Raja from Shirva team, man of the series was Arun from Shirva team, best batsman was Arun and Raja from Shirva team and best bowler was Joy from SMS team. 

At the valedictory, chief guest, Celeine Lewis, Brahmavar and other guests Fr Johnson, assistant parish priest, Eric D’Almeda, Brahmavar, Ravi Prakash Gonsalves, Dinesh, vice president of Chanthar gram panchayat and others were present.
