4 charge-sheeted for supplying explosives to terror outfits

CCB lists 123 witnesses, names several 'absconding' accused

Bengaluru, Jul 8 (DHNS): The Central Crime Branch (CCB) on Tuesday filed a 1,700-page charge sheet against four men it had arrested on charges of terrorism in Bengaluru, Bhatkal and Mangaluru in January this year.

Syed Ismail Afaaque, 36, Sadam Hussain, 29, Syed Abdus Suboor, 24, and Riyaz Ahmed Sayeedi, 32, all hailing from Bhatkal town in Uttara Kannada district, have been named in the charge sheet. The CCB has formally accused them of supplying gelatin sticks and other explosive material to various terror outfits which carried out bomb blasts in various parts of the country. The four men have been charged under sections 120(B), 121(A) and 511 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860, sections 13, 16, 18, 20 and 38 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, and sections 4, 5 and 6 of the Explosive Substances Act, 1908, a senior police officer said on the condition of anonymity. The CCB has listed as many as 123 witnesses in the charge sheet but the identity of several key witnesses has not been disclosed so as to “protect their lives.”

Riyaz Bhatkal, Iqbal Bhatkal and Afeef of Bhatkal, who are said to be hiding in Karachi, Pakistan, and Zainul Abideen and Sameer, who are reportedly on the run, have also been charge-sheeted as “absconding accused”. The four accused in custody were “in constant touch” with Riyaz, Iqbal and Afeef. The three men are believed to be founder members of Indian Mujahideen (IM), a terrorist organisation, according to the CCB.

The main accused, Afaaque, is married to a Pakistani national. The CCB claimed that on the “pretext” of visiting his in-laws in Karachi, Afaaque met Riyaz, Iqbal and Afeef there. The men discussed providing logistics support for carrying out bomb blasts across India. Afaaque, the charge sheet states, “underwent training in using various weapons and assembling of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) which is used in bomb blasts”.

The CCB also claimed to have recovered a large quantity of electronic detonators, gelatin sticks, ammonium nitrate, Jihadi literature and posters, besides assembled circuit boards which are used in bomb blasts, while arresting the four accused.

While Afaaque and Hussein were arrested from a flat at Cox Town in Bengaluru, Suboor was apprehended in the Jamiya area of Bhatkal. Sayeedi was detained while he was about to board a flight to Dubai from the Mangaluru International Airport. The arrests were made in January 2015 following “credible tip-offs”, the CCB said.

At any cost do not send them to Pakistan (someone proposed) because in PAK they will be well trained and could be sent to mother land to do their job.

I don't trust CCB team action, but they have fabricated the issue and report is done in their office. The raids were carried out forcibly and in the darkness of public / media. They are harassing innocents whereas real terrorists from sangh parivar are given shelter. This is being done only to hide the terrorists from sangh parivar. CCB is agent of RSS and they do what is being directed from Nagpur. While the raid was done on a locked house in bhatkal, why the CCF team carried big bags with them and same were returned. In case they got the news, why they did not inform local police / local people or even media. They did the raid like looters / decoits and with closed faces. I doubt they were not from CCB but were agents of Sangh parivar. Shame on you guys for harassing innocents. But don't forget that there is limit for everything and you will be punished by Almighty God for the atrocities you are carrying out on innocents while letting free the real terrorists.

Very logical and rational explanation. We all are in the midst of all sorts of turmoil. Day by day the norms of life and thinking capabilities of humans are worsening. During my childhood days we never heard of terrorism or much of communal disharmony. Even politics was dominated by one single party.
God alone knows what is holding in store for the future generation. Let’s hope for the best.

Flavian, problem lies within our political class..they created separate law, separate rule..they created these laws in such a way that Govts cant control, cant persuade or impose..if it does, it viewed as attack on faith or belief..these separation, or HOLY COW treatment further alienated them from the main stream and made them suffer from identity crisis..You just wont belong to any where..its happening in INDIA & in WEST..this confusion leading many to land of ISIS, which they think they belong to..without some sort of common civil code you are creating state inside state, country inside a country..But time already ran out for Govts do anything, now its in the hand of the community to choose between propaganda theories & the reality..

Shame on the State leadership, with their lenient attitude to appease certain factions, Karnataka is slowly turning into a terrorist hub.
Bhatkal is like the nursery of terrorism. With the hatred towards our national leadership some factions encourage such activities in their back yard, and blame the PM or whoever. When they are caught they shout 'foul' and play the religion card of 'minority abusing'
