Soldier injured in Kashmir guerrilla attack


Srinagar, July 8 (IANS): A soldier was injured in firing by guerrillas during a search operation by security forces in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, an official said.

"During a cordon and search operation at Barbugh (Zainapora) by the 62 Rashtriya Rifles and police, unidentified gunmen fired some shots, due to which one soldier received a bullet injury on his right shoulder," a police officer told IANS in Srinagar.

The injured soldier was taken to the Behibagh-based headquarters of the 62 Rashtriya Rifles for treatment, while an operation was on to track down the guerrillas, the official said.
