Kundapur, Jul 9: The locals at Hunsemakki near Bidkalkatte here thrashed two persons for allegedly trying to steal cattle. The incident took place on Wednesday July 8.

Iqbal (38) and Hussain (40), both from Suratkal near Mangaluru, came by bike and were allegedly trying to steal cattle when they were caught by the locals and beaten up.

It is said that Iqbal and Hussain, who were strangers to the area, came by a Pulsar bike and began to tether four cows to a tree. The locals who grew suspicious about them started questioning the duo, who not only answered incoherently but also tried to escape, sources said. The locals then caught them and beat them up.

Kota police on receiving information about the incident rushed to the spot and took the duo to the police station, and later admitted them to a hospital in Kundapur.

Among the two accused, Iqbal's condition is said to be serious. Both were later shifted to Wenlock hospital in Mangaluru.

The police also took into custody the four cows which the accused had tied to the tree, and so also their Pulsar bike. The cows were handed over to the 'goshala'.

Kota police are investigating further.

If they really tried to steal the cow, why has it been sent to the goshala instead of the original owner? Where's the owner anyway? It seems they actually paid for the cows and not stole them. Why hasn't police taken action against the assaulter in that case?

As a reader rightly mentioned below, it's very evident that these 2 men actually paid for the cow and were waiting for possession. Nor one will drive from Surathkal to Kundapur in a bike to steal a single cow. In that case, on what basis were they arrested. If one person is serious, what action has the police taken against the goons who assaulted them? Have they gone scot free? In that case, it is a clear case of police bias. Also, I urge reporters to stick to journalistic ethics and probe all sides of a story, not just one side

People have to learn their repeated mistakes and correct themselves, only through right punishment. If not from the protectors of the law, at least by the vigilant people who are around. No sympathy on such law breakers in the society. Let rest of the crooks learn the lesson.

How can somebody 'steal' cows using a motorbike? Also, if the cows were stolen, where is the original owner of the cow? Why has it not been sent to the original owner and to a goshala instead? It is pretty evident that they seemed to have owned the cow, and since anybody with a certain name owning a cow is a problem for some people, they've been assaulted. It is time reporters tried to ascertain the whole facts instead of blindly publishing one side of the story based on hearsay

I wonder some commentators act like, they have no brain. The modus operandi is first gather cows so brazenly, it should look like they own them. Then bring their regular tempo to transport. At least from here onwards, they know the story !

No idea on what to comment on this news.
In the holy month of Ramadan, that too last ten days on which people find opportunity to do good deeds and refrain from all bad activities, why these kind of things??? Preparation for Eid stealing cows!! Disgusting!!

One more doubt which arises after reading this news is that, were they really there for stealing? Come on guys, how can duo steal "4" cows in pulsar??? Was that just "EMBRYO" from pregnant cow they were trying to steal?
