Moorukaveri/Ballana/Kateel road is like that since last 50 years but journey was safe because of sincere and cautious drivers like Sompanna,Prabhumam, conductors like shamanna etc.,They were all dedicated and worked in this line for several years commanding peoples respect.

But nowadays rude behavior, carelessness, restive nature make bus journey risky.Service rendered by previous CPC,Hanuman,Manjunath,BHS et., are things of the past.Roads are ok but not present drivers/conductors.I doubt whether these drivers really have valid DL!

Don, your observation power is very good, Yes these tyres of the bus completely worn out. and in Mangalore, I saw the owners of the buses, in order to make quick bucks, least bother about the lives of people.and playing over the lives of passengers!!The main reason for accidents are there is no grip for the tyre.Old tyres are used again and again by resoling. This year January I had been to kateel via kinnigoli from udupi. I took a local bus. I always take local buses while travelling to mangalore from Udupi. as I am scared of these drivers.

what i observe in our district is there is no periodical checking or maintenance of this so called heavy vehicles. owner of vehciel only intersted money making process.worn out Tires, no break signels , sudden stopings without any sign, drivers using mobiles, ear phones to listen music, loud music playing in side buses, no systmatic carrige system all the points are main reason for MISHAPS.

Just look at the wheels there is hardly any thread, looks almost as clean as fighter Shetty's head. With such bald tires, how in the world can the driver make quick stops. Why don't we have safety laws and most importantly have them enforced? Is there no value for life, or have people become so immune they stopped caring anymore?

For the bus operators safer buses would most importantly save lives and bring in commuter trust thereby building a long term relations, rather than instant profit at the expense of life. Besides, had they employed good experienced drivers, a road worth vehicle with good tires and an effective braking system would have saved them expensive repairs, a loss of revenue while the bus is being fixed and most importantly trust.

Last but not least the authorities should have good and well maintained roads with proper signage and both motorist as well as pedestrian’s should share and use the road with a sense of their safety and others are safe too. I have been saying this for years but for an overwhelming majority of people, it is business as usual and any accident will result in only a minutes of reflection and care and then everyone is back to square one.

Drivers are at their own whims and fancy and enjoying maximum freedom even while negotiating sharp curves on the roads. They are the heroes, don't bothered about the lives of the passengers sitting inside the bus.Speed is their thrill even if they kill so many passengers.Praying God for the speedy recovery of the hospitalized passengers.

It is not anybody's fault, our roads are like that and the drivers have to drive everyday in these roads. Before any incident or accident why the roads are not widening? Now the minister told to widen or to make wall. But it will happen after another incident only.

Is it Navadurga bus?..once on the way towards katil to manglore ,i had the near death experience just after passing yekkar..bus is almost in wrong side whilst negotiating a curve ,coming towards kateel just missed a hit to my car just in some inches..these drivers need speed even on narrow and curvy roads..wish speed recovery to poor passengers and entire hospital bill should be made to pay by bus owners so that they will have responsibility whilst employing a driver.

Drivers should have minimum education before they are granted Driving License to drive a public transport. Otherwise he will put a lot of innocent people's life to risk. Traffic police must step up the patrol, to catch and fine the reckless drivers. Waiting on NH to catch the speeding vehicle is an eye wash. The purpose is to earn more money by the police from non-state vehicles. Mr. Murugan wake up and see what is police / traffic dept. is working?

We do have dangerous curves and narrow roads. How yester year drivers negotiated, they alone know. Today, with an ear to the mobile, there is real danger lurking while on travel.
