Karkala, Jul 9: A private bus plying on Edapadavu national highways entered the nearby field on Thursday morning, July 9 due to technical glitch.
Fortunately, all the passengers escaped unscathed.
The bus heading to Mangaluru from Peradi developed a fault in the engine. The driver with his presence of mind took the bus to the nearby fields and averted a major accident.
Though the bus was filled with passengers, none was injured. The passengers alighted through the emergency door and the door next to the driver’s seat.
The owner of the fields meanwhile came and urged for compensation from the bus driver saying that the fertile land and his compound were damaged in the mishap.
The farmer kept quite when the driver told him that it will be decided when the bus owner comes there.
