Daijiworld Media Network - Kundapur (SP)

Kundapur, Jul 9: A case stands filed against some persons, who allegedly released advertisement through a leading Kannada daily in the name of the union government's forest ministry, duly using fake emblems of the central government, and its seal seeking applications for employment.

The case in this regard has been registered in Byndoor police station in the taluk, accusing some unidentified persons of fraudulently issuing advertisement seeking applications for employment and fleecing them of money citing different reasons. Nagaratna (29), wife of Eshwar from Kirimanjeshwar village near Byndoor, Udupi taluk, has filed this complaint.

After reading the advertisement, Nagaratna said in her complaint, that she contacted cell phone numbers as given therein, to get job applications. "I was asked to deposit a sum of Rs 2000 into the bank account of Gautam Kumar. After this sum was remitted, I received an appointment letter in the letterhead of the ministry of environment and forests, government of India, which said I will be given seven days training. When I again called the concerned, I was asked to send Rs 19,500 more to Gautam's account towards coast of laptap, mobile phone and other items as security deposit. I was told that this money would be refunded once training is successfully completed. When I raised query about training again, I was asked to send another Rs 20,500 to Gautam's account, which I did. For this sum, I received an acknowledgement addressed to my younger brother's email ID," she has explained.

Nagaratna said that she made another call to the cell phone about the appointment, after which the concerned made a demand for payment of Rs 60,000 more if she wants employment. Growing doubtful, she approached the forest department office at Byndoor and found to her dismay that the appointment letter sent to her was fake. She said that in similar way, a person named Raghavendra from Kergal, whom Nagaratna knows, was also cheated of money in this fashion. She has accused the concerned of creating fake records in the name of the central government, manufacturing false documents and seals, and creating fake email ID in the name of the forest department, with the specific aim of cheating and defrauding people.

Byndoor police have registered this complaint under IT Act. Investigation has been undertaken.

In this bad time, we have to watch every step that we take.
Some years back in Mumbai, one man gave an ad for Inspectors' posts, purporting to be from Enforcement Directorate. He selected 10 Inspectors and gave appointment letters, never charged a single paisa. He gave them 1 week training on their duties in a star hotel, acting as Commissioner.

After training, he took them for a mock raid of a big Jewellery shop. Gave them proper uniforms with badge nos. After showing the letter to the shop manager, they started the raid. By lunch time, after assessing the value of diamonds and costly ornaments with documents, Inspectors and he went for lunch.

After lunch, the Commissioner never returned, but they realized that he took very costly items valued crores of rupees. Inspectors came to know that it was a fraud, only then. Probably, there were no cc cameras and that Commissioner is never found up to now.
