B'luru: NSAM FGC holds Freshers' day, International Yoga day

Bengaluru, Jul 10: Dr NSAM First Grade College, Yelahanka, part of Nitte educational society, held Freshers' day celebration here on Friday, July 10.

Chief guest, Dr H C Nagaraj, Principal, Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology (NMIT) inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp.

Addressing the freshers, Dr Nagaraj said, “Dr NSAM First Grade College comes under the umbrella of Nitte Education Trust, located at Deralakatte, Mangalore. Nitte Education Trust which has established 34 institutions spread in three campuses at Nitte, Mangalore and Bangalore, aims at delivering holistic education to all sections of society”.

Welcoming the newcomers, he further said, “As a fresher, learn to develop a positive attitude for learning. Discipline plays the most important part in success. Work hard and you will succeed in life”.

Guest of honour, Rajalakshmi, principal of PU College wished all the newcomers best of luck for their academic year.

Dr Meera Krishnappa, principal of Dr NSAM First Grade College, welcomed the gathering. Sheetal and Seema, students of Final B.Com rendered the invocation while Veena compered the programme.

The Administrator of Nitte Education Trust, Rohit Punja, vice principal Bhagya, HOD Rozy among others were present on the occasion. The formal programme was followed by a variety entertainment programme by the freshers and seniors. The programme concluded with a sumptuous lunch.

Earlier, the college also conducted the International World Yoga day on June 29. The Yoga course was inaugurated by Swami Divyanandji of Ghati Ashram, Doddaballapur, Bengaluru. Vanishree Vishwanath wife of MLA Vishwanath, a social worker and the president of the Karnataka Raithara Seva Samiti was the guest of honour for the day. The dignitaries were welcomed with floral bouquets.

Rohit Punja, administrator, NET presided over the function. The programme commenced with a melodious invocation by Sheetal and group. This was followed by the lighting of the lamp. The FGC principal then welcomed the gathering. Muniraju, the Yoga teacher then introduced Swami Divyanandji while Appu Jadhav, Kannada faculty introduced Vanishree Vishwanath.

Swami Divyanandji then spoke about the importance of Yoga and also demonstrated a few techniques of Pranayama. He made his whole talk interesting with lots of examples.

Rohit Punja, the NET Administrator then spoke about the importance of time and how one should value each moment and make it count. He further spoke about how Yoga could help in improving focus.

Vanishree Vishwanath spoke about her relationship with the institution and her interest in Yoga and how it has helped her in maintaining balance in life. The dignitaries were honoured with shawls, garlands and fruit baskets.

The dignitaries then planted a few saplings as part of Vanamahotsava. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by Bhavya.
