Mangaluru, Jul 11: "Keeping up with hunger does not amount to fasting. A person who observes Ramzan fast should maintain purity of heart, apart from keeping up with the duty of offering prayers to the Almighty," said Khateeb of Fauzia Jumma Masjid in the city, Abul Wafa Qasim Musliyar.

He was speaking on the subject of 'Beary culture and Ramzan observation' at the Iftar party organized by Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy in association with Talent Research Foundation (TRF) on Friday July 10 at TRF auditorium here.

"Beary is not something different from Islam. Islam teaches people to love one's mother tongue. Therefore, every Beary Muslim should stay away from illegal and immoral activities. They should always be affectionately proud of their mother tongue," he advised.

Chairman of Mangaluru Urban Development Authority, Haji Ibrahim Kodijal, Dakshina Kannada district Wakf advisory committee president, S M Rashid Haji, general secretary of Islamic Cultural Centre, Mumtaz Ali, and founder president of TRF, Abdul Ravuf Puttige spoke on the occasion about good virtues which enable one to remain faithful and a lead good life.

President of Talent Research Foundation, Riaz Kannur was present. President of the academy, B A Muhammed Hanif presided. Registrar, Umarabba welcomed the gathering. Member T A Aliyabba proposed the vote of thanks. TRF honorary adviser, Rafiq Master presented the programme.
