Mangaluru, Jul 12: Five unidentified persons barged into a house at Bondel here on the night of Saurday July 11 and robbed a home-alone woman after allegedly assaulting and gagging her. The incident came to light on Sunday July 12.

The robbery took place at PWD quarters, Bondel, where A Radha (58) has been staying. Radha works as a stenographer in the commercial tax department, and stays alone.

It is learnt that at around 9 pm, five persons came to Radha's house and said that their car had met with an accident and they needed water. Radha, without opening the door, told them to take water that was in a bucket in the compound. However, they refused and insisted that they needed water to drink.

Radha then brought them water, but when she opened the door a litle to hand it over, the five men allegedly pushed open the door fully and barged inside. They then allegedly assaulted, tied her up and gagged her.

The five also spent the night in the house and left only in the early morning, taking away a gold chain, a gold ring, three mobile phones and Rs 35,000 cash.

After the robbers left, Radha managed to untie herself and approached Thimmayya, her colleague who lives in the same neighbourhood and narrated the incident. Thimmayya then informed the police and admitted Radha to hospital.

Kavoor police arrived at the spot along with canine squad and fingerprint experts.

Further investigations are on.

Radha's husband passed away in March this year. She is basically from Madikeri.

The lady may not get justice as the only place where Karnataka police will do well is in Kannada movies. But this is a lesson for many of us not to entertain strangers that too when you are alone. If stranger asks water at 9pm, you need not help them as shops will be open to buy mineral water or soda. These are the incidents which scare people and prevent them from helping people who are in real need.

Karnataka Police are the most useless. So far they could hardly solve 20% of the theft cases.
Even in ATM cheating cases by Hindi speaking cheats of U.P & Bihar so far they have not caught even a single cheat because they never go to north India even though they have the phone number and details of the cheats as given by the victims.

Sir, you are right. The Hindiwala Cheaters of ATM Card from UP Bihar have become so bold due to lethargy of Karnataka police that they even phone up second time to the same victim and tell them to go to their bank and verify their account balance. This happened to a lady of Bhatkal who lost Rs.72000/- to ATM fraudsters which she had saved for Ramzaan festival.
Cheaters know very well that Karnataka police will not take trouble to come to far off UP or Bihar and catch them even though they have cheaters phone number and other detials provided by the victim. That is why they are boldly cheating only Karnataka people and not Tamil Nadu or Andhra or Kerala people. Not even a single such ATM cheating case took place in Tamilnadu and Kerala, because there the moment people hear a word of Hindi on phone they disconnect the phone immediately. But foolish Karnataka people entertain Hindi phone calls and get cheated easily.

What has The City of Mangalore come to. Highhandedness, robberies and murders are heard of everyday.

Hope this case will detected and the culprits taken to task without much delay.

Hope peace and tranquility will return to the City which was peaceful and like a paradise way back in the twenties and thirties.

We have a good police force and I have no doubt the case will be handled efficiently without any loss of time

D.K and Udupi districts have become hub for thieves and police seems to be highly incompetent to catch the thieves.

Hundreds of Robbery cases reported but a single case can not traced by Police. These Robbers are either from our neighboring districts or from north Indian states. These people filled every corner of the twin districts, watching all the activities of local populace and ran away catching first train of konkan Railway after booty. I request to locals keep an eye on strangers.
